Ana Cat's reads

I'm a stubborn, chatty and nice-kind of girl, extremely happily married with a fantastic boy, fool enough to give me a tablet with a kindle app, saying it was the perfect gift, because I love reading! And it's pretty much what I've been doing since... and loving him for the perfect gift he is! I'll read all sorts of genres, as long as it moves me. From sad to fun, or fiction to non-fiction, romance to erotica, I love to be wooed by a book! So, woo me ;)

That's so me right now...

I'm mindf***ed!

The Opportunist (Love Me With Lies, #1) - Tarryn Fisher Dirty Red (Love Me With Lies #2) - Tarryn Fisher

I'm almost done with this crazy, obssessive book that is "The Opportunist", and I can't believe this ride is almost over. I'll just have to submit to my craving and hop on the next ride, just as eagerly and ASAP!

Yeah, I admit... I'm Tarryn Fisher's new book slut!

Hopeless was a sweet, beautiful and heart ripping experience!

Hopeless - Colleen Hoover

4,5 heartbreaking, hopefull stars!

Hopeless has been quietly waiting for me on my TBR list. That was until I downloaded the free novella Finding Cinderella… and was completely overwhelmed by Colleen Hoover’s talented writing.

I knew I had to download Hopeless asap, and bring it to the top of my TBR list. So should you!

This beautiful, sweet-loving, heartbreaking and healing book tells us the story of Sky and Holder.

She is a girl that at age 17 will be experiencing school for the first time. Being adopted at such a young age, she doesn’t remember much from her early years, when she was in foster care. Karen, the woman that adopted her has a unique view of the world. So she sheltered Sky and raised her in a reality free of technology. Sky was homeschooled and never allowed to watch tv, have a computer, internet access or a phone. Against her mother’s desire, for her senior year she decides to enroll public school.
Sky is used to go out with Six and make out with guys, but she never feels anything but boredom around them, and she can't understand why she never felt the so called "butterflies in the stomach". Until one day at the grocery store she sees Holder, and the attraction strikes and leaves her completely smitten for the first time in her life.

I'm pretty sure I'm having a hot flash. Or I have butterflies. Or maybe I'm coming down with a stomach virus. The feeling is so foreign; I'm not sure what it is. I can't say what it is so different about him that would prompt my first-ever normal biological response to another person.

Holder is a broken, hopeless guy that has been struggling with pain and loss. When he first spots Sky at a grocery store he’s immediately drawn to her and his demeanor towards her is so intense at first that he simultaneously amazes and frightens her.
He has a reputation of his own. Rumor has it he’s trouble, and because of it he was kicked out of school. He’s beautiful, mysterious, and Sky eventually can’t stay away, especially when he starts to pursuit her.

I loved Holder... I felt so girlish, like I was in high school!

Both Holder and Sky are great. Their chemistry is through the roof. Sky is funny and smart-ass, and Holder is super charming, sweet and sexy! Holder is like perfect boyfriend material, and I got myself grinning like an idiot so much that my face was hurting. He was just PERFECT!

"I'm bored", he says.
"So go home".
"I don't want to. What do you do when you're bored? You don't have internet or TV. Do you just sit around all day and think about how hot I am?"

Colleen Hoover also provides us some “Laugh out Loud” moments, starring both Sky and Holder, but also Six, and Sky’s new mormon gray friend from school, Breckin:

"I thought Mormon's weren't allowed to have caffeine".
Breckin shrugs. "I decided to break that rule the morning I woke up gay".

After some harsh discussions in the beginning, and a whole a lot of misunderstandings, Holder and Sky connect and start to fall for each other.

But still, Holder has a lot of issues Sky doesn't understand, and neither does the reader. They find themselves in a point of no return when it comes to their feelings for each other, and that’s when the major twist happens. It’s hinted throughout the book, but I never imagined the depth of it, and I surely didn’t see coming all that happened until the end. Enjoy the falling in love, the sweet talk, the funny banter, because suddenly it’s all shot to hell, and the author rips our heart out with the revelations that take place. It was excruciating to read. These two young adults face so much, and still they come out of it alive, and stronger.

I can’t say much more because otherwise I would spoil it, but believe me, this book, these characters and their lives will stay with you for a long time. Sometimes I just had to take a breather, and put my tablet away for a few minutes because of the intensity. I got dragged to the story and to all of that was happening to them like I was having a really vivid dream.

Please, please read it! It was so... Above all: beautiful :)

Friday funny moment!

Loved this one!

This book is killing me!

Hopeless - Colleen Hoover

Poor Holder... poor Sky... GOD!

Why oh why?!

Finding Cinderella - Colleen Hoover

I have that terrible, nasty habit of, while reading a book, take a sneak peek in the middle, or near the end...

Godammit, I just found the part where everything was exposed, and I couldn't stop reading... I didn't see that one coming!

Stupid me...

What will I read next?...

Sins & Needles - Karina Halle The Opportunist (Love Me With Lies, #1) - Tarryn Fisher

After Undeniable series I had to take a breather and I've been reading some fluffy romances.

Now I want to go back to the good stuff ;) Maybe The Opportunist next?!

But first some vacations. A long time planned trip! See yall' soon.

Happy readings!

"Are you for real?!"

So... last night my hubbie was watching this film, Pacific Rim, and he said:

Hubbie: "Oh... this is the guy that is playing the part in that Shades of Grey, or whatever movie".

Me: "No, it's not!"

Hubbie: "Duhh, yes it is. I'm sure".

Me: "What? Are you for real? This is Charlie Hunnam from SOA?"

Hubbie: "Yep, but now enough with the drooling" *grumpy face*

Wow... I didn't even recognize him. He looks so different, much younger.

Just imagining how he would look in a suit in tie. Count me in for that movie, and I'm not even a FSOG fan... :D

Undeniable series marathon...

Undeniable - Madeline Sheehan Unbeautifully - Madeline Sheehan Unattainable - Madeline Sheehan

Wow, what a rush! I'm crushed with all the awsomeness...

Undeniable, Unbeautifully and Unattainable all in a week!

I'm utterly and completely addicted to this.

I had to jump right in!

Unattainable - Madeline Sheehan

OMG... I finished Unbeautifully, and just kept going to the next!

Probably my brain will burst at some point, but I just can't stop reading this until there's no more...

Surfing Booklikes!

I'm totally lost here, but I'll understand it eventually... one can only hope!

Undeniable - Madeline Sheehan Dear god...

Need a breath... and need to start Unbeautifully right away. Reviewing this later!

5 shining epic stars

I think this was one of the most emotional, crude, angsty, raw, and beautifully written book I’ve read in a while, and without a doubt, one of the best in the genre. This is some different NA alright!

First of all, this is not a typical case of student-teacher affair. There is no villain here, no victim, no abuse of authority or corruption of minors, and they sure as hell are aware of what they’re doing. At least when they know about their connection.
Although this is a sensitive matter, forget you expectations or preconceived ideas. Sure, you can say morally it’s wrong, but I just never felt it like that. It’s a really great love story, with a really f*****up timing, but real nonetheless.
If you have any doubts about them, read the book yourself and you’ll see that with the kind of obstacles they will encounter… god, if that ain’t true love, I don’t know what is.

Leah Raeder gives you such magic writing that we’re immediately sucked into the story and it’s like we’re watching everything like a bystander, but in it. The way she describes them, their feelings, their relationship, Maise’s inner thoughts, it’s so vivid that it seems real. For 210 pages it felt like that was a true story and those characters were really living all that messed up life.
The twists and turns are crazy. By 75% of the book I was making small breaks between pages because it was getting so emotional. And that’s another thing that Leah totally scored… I did not see any of it coming.

Some insight on the plot:

Maise O’Malley, our irish girl, is whole of a lot different from the girls her age. No pink bedroom, no parents controlling her and her nights out… and specially, no caring. Instead she has a drug dealer and drug addict mother, a father that abandoned her way of coping is to engage in one night stands with much older man.
Despite the terrible backgroung she is strong and determined to not make stupid mistakes and bad decisions like her mother. Even stumbling through life, she has a plan.

So, she goes to a carnival, embracing her “all-seductive” self, determined to face one big fear: ride the rollercoaster (I’m also terrified!).

And that’s when she meets “The Guy”.

They’re immediately drawn to one another. A small talk occurs, that leads to more meaningful subjects, and suddenly they’re flirting, touching, kissing and connecting like they never had in their lives.
“The Guy”, that later goes by Evan, doesn’t want a one night stand, but that’s what happens when Maise gets scared with her feelings. So she goes for what she knows best: leaving guys before they can do it to her.

Of course… we see it coming: when she walks in for her first Film Studies Class… tcharan: there he is. “The guy” is Evan Wilke, her teacher.

You can guess a bit of what happens next. They try to resist like… once, fail miserably, and it’s the inevitable: an affair between teacher/student.

description

Evan Wilke at age 32 is changing his whole life, and starting a new job at Maise’s highschool as a teacher. Even though Maise has had a really bad upbringing, Evan has some demons of his own, that even made me doubt about him, at some point. Cut him some slack… he’s really a good guy that made some mistakes.

There’s one really important side character: Wesley. They become friends just before school starts, and as everything in Maise’s life, it’s not a common friendship. They´re going to screw up a lot, specially Wesley, but it’s a beautiful connection that will bring some normalcy and peace moments in her life.

I got myself in a complete stunned state desoite the beautiful happy ending when I was done, so I jus wanted to...

I'll be reading it again, for sure!
Officer off Limits - Tessa Bailey God, this "Line of duty" series blown me away!

5 sexy, fun, smart-mouth stars indeed!!!

Im book three we meet Daniel, wich we had already heard of in book two [b:His risk to Take|17828181|His Risk to Take (Line of Duty, #2)|Tessa Bailey|http://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1366243269s/17828181.jpg|24941124], although I made a mistake and read this one first. Our third sexy cop is a smart, gorgeaus (aren't they all?), sucessful hostage negotiator. Daniel doesn't disappoint these cop's trade mark, and also has a dirty mouth of his own ;)
He copes with his past by being kid of a "manwhore", that sleeps around, without truly connecting with anyone. Until he meets Story, his boss's daughter. In the end she will help him see the fantastic man he became, in spite of his hard upbringing.

Story (yeah, that's really her name!), flew to New York to take care after her estranged father, that suffered a heart attack. As if this wasn't disturbing enough, she receives the call from the hospital after being left by her fiancée, that broke off their engagement on a fancy restaurant, just like that!

description

So she runs to New York, although she hasn't seen her father in years. Just when Daniel first spots her at the hospital, and without knowing she's his mentor's daughter, he's blown away by her looks and makes a pass at her, wich she finds amusing but declines (with a lot of laugh on the readers side, you can count on it!).
When Daniel realises who she is, he can't believe it. His boss immediatly warns him to stay away from Story, and he tries at first, but it all goes south when she doesn't seem to help him with his resolve...
Story herself can't belive being so drawn to that man hours after being rejected by the man she was about to get married.
Both of them are unable to resist the killing attraction... and you can imagine where this all goes.

You can expect some histerical funny moments, a lot of steamy-toe-curling scenes between the two, some action, and in the end... a lot of love!

Goddammit Tessa Bailey, you did it again :)

For those who love a sexy read, these books are the best I've read so far. Keep them coming Tessa Bailey!
Protecting What's His (Line of Duty, #1) - Tessa Bailey God damn it... Tessa Bailey writes some scorching, hot, mind blowing sex scenes!!!

Review to be continued...
Playing for Keeps (Neighbor from Hell #1) - R.L. Mathewson Oh man... this is just funny as hell!

I read this one because I needed a laugh, and read all the reviews of people claiming they laughed their eye balls off.
I was feeling it, but underestimated it a little. It was a lot funnier than I anticipated... no, it was f****** hilarious!

Jason and Haley are 5-year-long neighbours and colleagues, both of them teachers on a private school.

Haley is shy, too good for her own good, that oftenly lets other people push her around, including Jason, although he's not even aware of it.
Jason is the traditional womanizer: the charming, easy-on-the-eye bastard that sleeps around... a lot! Despite this first introdution of his character, we quickly start to perceive him as a nice guy, actually.

Although Jason and Haley's lives are so close together, they don't mingle, ever. In fact, Haley kind of loathes him. Then suddenly something happens that brings them close, and they become friends, really good friends... and then way too good friends, if you know what I mean...

I loved the story, but it kind of dragged a little toward the end, and the amount of drama was a bit unnecessary for me. Still it remained a five star for me.

It's well written in a funny, light way. It has some great steamy moments, in spite of the comedy being the strongest portion of the story. Some loving cheesy moments as well, but it totally fits in it.
I think that Jason's obssession with food is insanely weird, but just as funny, and also loved Haley's smart mouth when she stoped being a pushover.

I completely recommend this one for the readers that are looking for a really good, easy laugh. And I sure has hell am going to read the rest of this series!
